Funded by You

Here are some examples of the kind of things we have funded in the past.  Mr Coles and the teachers have given us a list of things they would like us to fund this year so we are hoping to have some exciting news very soon about things we are funding this year.

£500 was spent on a visit by M&M Theatrical Productions who came to the school in March 2010 and put on a production of Alice in Wonderland.  Unfortunately no pictures were taken but you can get a glimpse of the show on their website.

£1,500 was spent on a reading books for the children.

Miss Griffin, the Literacy co-ordinator requested this funding.

Called Floppy's Phonics they are teamed with Songbirds Phonics written by author Julia Donaldson (of Gruffalo fame).

These books are written using phonetic words with the aim of encouraging readers with words they can sound out rather than the traditional Floppy and Kipper books we usually see in the book bags which concentrate on practising high frequency words.

Miss Griffin has told us they are currently being used in classes from Reception onwards and are very popular.

We also paid £5,000 to recarpet the Reception area.  The school had an ongoing programme of repairs that included recarpeting. With budget cuts, however, the Reception area refurbishment was in danger of being abandoned.  Fortunately we were able to help.  We feel so proud that the school has such supportive parents and really thrilled that your fundraising efforts can make such a difference to the school.
