The School Council decided a few years ago that they would like to use some of the funds raised by the Parents’ Association to help a child their own in age, living in the third world.
This is Isaac. He is eleven years old and lives in the district of Dowa in central Malawi, 80km north of the capital, Lilongwe. He has two brothers and a sister and lives with his mum and dad in a two roomed mudbrick house.
Isaac loves playing football and making toy cars out of wire. Although he is eleven, he is in his first year of primary school where he really enjoys learning English. When he grows up he would love to be a mechanic.
The area is one of the most deprived in Malawi and the Everychild project is helping to raise awareness of children’s rights within the community. They are establishing community based child-care centres and providing children with the materials and access they need to go to school.
